Daniela Hantuchova
«NEWS «2010 AEGON «Players @Devonshire Park, Eastbourne
The 2004 Eastbourne runner-up - beaten in three sets by Russian Svetlana Kuznetsova - has skipped Eastbourne since 2006 in favour of the grass court event at Hertogenbosch in Holland, due to the brash British media attention on her lack of weight, rather than her tennis skills.
Daniela Hantuchova, who last led Slovakia to the Federation Cup World Group title in 2002, is a wily veteran on the WTA Tour.
And Hantuchova, despite never really setting Wimbledon alight, was halted by Serena Williams in the last 16 at the 2009 grand slam so is a match for most on her day.
Had a reasonably successful 2010 campaign, with her best tournament finish as runner-up to young Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova at Monterrey in Mexico.
Reached fourth round at 2010 French Open.
Chances of winning | Unlikely to be crowned champion, is seeking her long awaited breakthrough to win a grass court tournament and has the ability and guile to be among all the usual suspects. If handed a generous draw, should ease into the quarter-finals.
