Lucie Safarova

The Czech ace is merely making up the numbers at Eastbourne 2010, and is lacking match practice on grass - a surface that at times seem alien to her.

Only played at Eastbourne once, in 2007, where she won a singles match before being stopped by Austrian Sybille Bammer.

Bounced out at the first hurdle at The Championships in 2008 and 2009, so does not have any pedigree on grass and tends to skip Wimbledon warm-up events.

Had a successful 2010 season, including runner-up to Russian Elena Dementieva at the Paris Open in February. But retired with a left thigh injury during her semi-final clash with Aravane Rezai at the 2010 Madrid Masters in May.

Reached second at 2010 French Open.

Chances of winning | Will do well to win her first match, unless given a generous draw. Such inconsistency throughout her career has meant that the Czech ace has never lived up to all the hype when she first appeared on the WTA Tour.
