Shahar Peer

The Israel no1 singles player has a shockingly poor record at Devonshire Park, but as she is finally fast approaching a place in the world's top 10 is keen to make an impact at 2010 Eastbourne.

Shahar Peer has had a remarkable 2010 campaign. Stopped by Yanina Wickmayer in the 2010 opening event at Auckland, New Zealand. Peer then finished runner-up at Hobart, Australia before bowing out in the third round of the 2010 Australian Open to Denmark's Caroline Wozniacki.

Scored a trio of 2010 semi-finals - at Paris, Stuttgart and the Madrid Masters - Peer had a fantastic run at the 2010 French Open but was halted by American Serena Williams in the fourth round.

Returned home to her native Israel for a well earned rest prior to the Wimbledon warm-up event at Devonshire Park, as Peer wishes to be fresh for a shot at 2010 Wimbledon.

Reached quarter-finals at Eastbourne 2007 and last 16 at 2008 Wimbledon, with a game that is suited to grass and other fast surfaces.

Reached fourth round at 2010 French Open.

Chances of winning | Is one of the players who is long overdue some success, and was tipped as a future Wimbledon champion by some ex-players in the early 2000s. Unlikely to win, but as a good quality floater can cause major problems for others. Should improve on poor Eastbourne record and will be seeking a run to the quarter-finals.
