Nadia Petrova

Nadia Petrova has seemingly rediscovered her form this season, and is confident before 2010 Wimbledon.

She has an excellent record on grass, having become a regular favourite with the fans at Devonshire Park over the years.

In 2008, Petrova finished runner-up to Polish ace Agnieszka Radwanska and romped through to the quarter-finals at Wimbledon.

In 2009, Petrova retired injured at Eastbourne despite leading compatriot Vera Dushevina. But she recovered in time to play Wimbledon, halted by Belarussian Viktoria Azarenka in the last 16.

The powerful Russian has had a reasonably successful 2010 campaign, and annoyed the Williams sisters by inflicting defeats on the pair.

Petrova surprisingly saw off top seed Serena Williams in the third round of the 2010 Madrid Masters by serving 10 aces and forcing the American to make over 40 silly errors.

And at the 2010 French Open accounted for Venus Williams in straight sets in the last 16, before being halted by fellow Russian Elena Dementieva at the quarter-finals.

Prior to Roland Garros, reached the quarter-finals in three successive tournaments - Charleston in USA, the Rome Open and the Madrid Masters - as well as the 2010 Australian Open, where Petrova fell to battling Belgian Justine Henin.

Reached quarter-finals at 2010 French Open.

Chances of winning | With a genuine pedigree on grass, she can never be discounted of reaching the final. Although with such a strong draw, will be planning to reach the semi-finals and then see what happens.
